Summer Study Opportunities

Rangjung Yeshe Institute is pleased to announce the 18th Summer Program featuring intensive language training and Buddhist philosophy. Due to global travel restrictions RYI will offer the Summer Program online for the second year running

Orientation sessions start from June 9 to June 11, 2021, and classes run from June 14 to August 5, 2021 (eight weeks).

The Summer Program will be offered at a 25% discount to help those who may be struggling financially due to the global situation. To help ensure that finances are not an obstacle RYI will offer the Buddhist Studies course at a 50% discount. You will find the price list for the Summer Program courses linked on the right hand side of this page (at the end of the page if you are on a mobile device) under the heading "Tuition Fee List." Early Applications close May 23. Late applications are accepted between May 24– May 30, however a late application fee of 10% applies. No applications will be accepted after May 30. For all Colloquial Tibetan courses applications close May 23, there is no late application period for Colloquial Tibetan courses.

To guarantee your place on any given course early application is advised as many courses tend to reach maximum capacity early.

The 2021 language programs offer an immersive learning environment for the Tibetan, Sanskrit, and Nepali language. The Buddhist Studies program provides a practical introduction to the richness of personal meditation training as well as an introduction to Buddhist philosophy and history.

The level of intensity of the Summer Program is high. However, students who successfully complete the summer courses will be well on their way towards a high degree of proficiency in the language studied, or in their understanding of the Buddhist tradition. The eight-week Summer Program language courses are comparable to two semesters of study during the fall/spring academic year at RYI.

All summer programs are fully accredited by Kathmandu University.

 

 

Summer Buddhist Studies

This online course is a full immersion into the theory and practice of Buddhism. Students are introduced to both classical and modern Buddhist scholarship and meditation training. In this way, the course offers students first-hand experience of many key aspects of Buddhist training which are otherwise rarely accessible to lay students. Read more...

Summer Colloquial Tibetan Course

The online colloquial Tibetan summer program is offered on three levels: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. The level of intensity of the summer Tibetan courses is high and the courses require considerable time and effort in order to meet class requirements and academic expectations. However, students who successfully complete the summer program will be well on their way towards a high degree of proficiency in colloquial Tibetan.  Read more...

Summer Classical Tibetan Course

This summer, Classical Tibetan is offered at three levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced. All three are eight-week summer courses that take students on an intensive and rapidly productive learning journey. Whichever level you take, students who successfully complete one of these courses will be well on their way to a developing or attaining a high degree of proficiency in Classical Tibetan. Read more...

The online Sanskrit summer program is offered on three levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced. The level of intensity of the summer Sanskrit courses is high and students are expected to invest considerable time and effort in order to meet class requirements and academic expectations.
