Kongtrul Rinpoche’s gZhan sTong
Dr. Daniel McNamara is an Assistant Professor of Buddhist Studies at Rangjung Yeshe Institute. This summer he will teach on two short texts by Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye (1813-1899), both of which focus on his presentation of “emptiness of other” (gzhan stong) philosophy. Daniel will also teach on related materials composed in Sanskrit and translated into Tibetan.
Tibetan Songs and Poetry

Dr. Lara Braitstein is an Associate Professor of Indo-Tibetan Buddhism at McGill University. During the second half of the course Lara will teach Tibetan poetry and versified literary texts through examining samples of different genres (mgur, snyan ngag) and different translations from Indic sources such as vajragīti, dohā, and mahākāvya.
