RYI offers the Academic English and Advanced Study Methods course as a summer intensive program with the aim to help students acquire additional English language and academic study skills.
This course is open to all non-native English-speaking applicants who feel they would benefit from a more solid academic foundation in the English language. In addition, RYI highly recommends the course to those students holding a high school (10+2) diploma obtained from an institution where English is not the primary language of instruction who are interested in pursuing higher education.
How Does It Work?
If you are interested in the Academic English and Advanced Study Methods course offered during the summer program and have scored at least a 500 on the TOEFL, 60 on the TOEFL iBT, or 5.0 overall on the IELTS with no score lower than 4.5, you can apply directly to the course by clicking the “Apply” button below. Applications for summer program will be open from October 1 through May 1.
Alternatively, if you are interested in studying in the Academic English and Advanced Study Methods course and have not taken an international standardized English test, please follow this procedure to apply:
1. Apply for the course by April 16, 2018. If you do not apply by April 16, you will not be able to join the Academic English and Advanced Study Methods course during summer 2018.
2. Take the English Language Proficiency Exam (ELPE) at RYI's administration office on April 23, 2018.
3. Receive your ELPE results.
4. For those applicants with the required scores, notify the office of your intent to study Academic English and Advanced Study Methods by April 30, 2018. The course begins on June 13.
Academic English and Advanced Study Methods is eight weeks long and taught during the summer. It is offered for credit through Kathmandu University and completion of the course will earn six credits towards the BA degree for students enrolled in the BA program.
The course begins with a three-day orientation that starts June 13, 2018 and offers four hours of daily classes for eight weeks, from June 18, 2018 to August 10, 2018.
