OL SUN: A Brilliant Sun (Rabsel Nyima)

A Brilliant Sun is a short work written by Dza Paltrül Orgyen Jigmé Chökyi Wangpo (Patrül Rinpoche) (1808-1887) that outlines the stages of practice according to Śāntideva's The Way of the Bodhisattva. It is traditionally taught alongside more extensive study of The Way of the Bodhisattva, hence it is a perfect companion for those that are either studying this text or have already done so. In it, we find practical advice on how to apply these teachings in the context of daily meditation sessions, beginning with how to use the verses of the root text to engender the altruistic attitude of bodhicitta, as well as methods for practicing each of the six pāramitās, from generosity to wisdom.

This short course is taught by Khenpo Karma Gyurmé (Tokpa Tulku), senior monastic lecturer at RYI. Given his own practice and study experience at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery, and his teaching experience with Westerners, Khenpo Tokpa Tulku is able to provide an inspirational platform to support the transmission of the Buddhadharma to the West.
