Hilary Herdman

Hilary has been studying Tibetan Buddhism and the dharma generally since 1999. In Nepal she studied Buddhist text, hermeneutics, Tibetan and Sanskrit. In addition she participated in textual study in the Gelugpa and Sakya traditions. She pursued her studies with a MA in Buddhist Studies from the University of Bristol, UK, and is currently a PhD candidate at that institution.

Research Interests

Pilgrimage, Indian Buddhism and History of Buddhism. Issues of faith and devotion in the Buddhist tradition., PhD work is in process on a comparative study of the origins of the Buddhist and Christian pilgrimage traditions.
