RYI's English Language Proficiency Exam (ELPE) is required for any applicants living in Nepal who do not have a satisfactory TOEFL or IELTS result and who do not have a 10+2 diploma or bachelor’s degree from an English-speaking country.
Acceptance decisions for applicants will be made after test results are evaluated. If the score on the exam is high enough, the applicant will be admitted directly into the BA program. If the score is average, the applicant will be asked to take--and pass--Academic English and Advanced Study Methods course during RYI's summer program in order to be offered admission to the BA program in the fall.
Applicants for the Academic English and Advanced Study Methods course during the summer program 2017 who want to apply for the Early Application Scholarship are encouraged to apply by Oct. 31, 2016 and take the ELPE on November 5, 2016.
*Attention: Applicants who are required to take the English Language Proficiency Exam (ELPE) must apply by April 17.
The ELPE is free of charge held at RYI’s main office in Boudhanath. For applicants who apply by April 17, the ELPE will be offered on April 28, 2017 right before the start of the Academic English and Methods course on June 6, 2017. For applicants who apply after April 17, the ELPE will be offered again on August 4, 2017. However, students who take this exam in August and do not score high enough for direct admission will have to wait until June 2018 to enter the Academic English and Methods course, so RYI encourages students to meet the April 17 BA application deadline if they are planning to start studying in the upcoming fall.
Note: The August 4 exam is the last exam for admittance into the 2017-18 academic year.
