Studying at RYI

Rangjung Yeshe Institute offers courses in Buddhist philosophy and in Tibetan, Sanskrit and Nepali languages. The courses combine traditional Tibetan Buddhist teachings with a modern Buddhist Studies perspective. Classes are held in the unique setting of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling monastery in Boudhanath, Kathmandu, Nepal. Students are encouraged to integrate themselves fully in the local culture and environment and enjoy Nepal's outstanding hospitality and natural beauty to the fullest.

For those not able to attend in person, RYI offers a wide range of online courses.

Students studying at RYI can earn BA, MA and PhD degrees in Buddhist Studies and Himalayan Language or study for non-degree courses over shorter periods. Students can enroll into the Certificate Course in Buddhist Studies if they are not ready to fully enroll into the four year BA program. For visiting students, study abroad programs and a series of intensive summer programs in Buddhist philosophy and related languages are offered. A 12 month intensive Translator Training Program is also available.
